Girl on The Train.
I burned through it.
Such a good thriller!
This month, the club chose Girl On The Train by Paula Hawkins. And it was MUCH better than last month’s choice. I really enjoyed this book! Mind games, mystery, murder, romance, deceit, it has everything! I couldn’t put it down!
I won’t give too much away but I will say that I was able to predict the ending, but not until the last….80 pages or so? Maybe that’s just me haha but I thoroughly enjoyed this novel.
The book is centred around Rachel, who rides a particular train to and from London every day at the exact same time. On her travels, she starts to create stories of the people she sees during her commute. In particular, she creates lives with Jess and Jason (not their actual names), a couple who she sees every morning out on their terrace. She creates personalities for them, gives them jobs, characteristics, pet peeves and so on. She grows fond of them, and genuinely cares about them. Until one day she sees Jess with another man. And then Jess turns up missing. Oh and one key detail… Rachel is a raging alcoholic.
DUN DUN DUUUH!
The story is ultimately about the disappearance of this woman, and what happened to her, but as the story goes on you also learn chilling secrets of Rachel’s life. The book keeps you guessing and on your toes.
If you are looking for a good, quick read, then I highly recommend this novel!
Have you read this book? What are your thoughts?
